Gym-Powered Water Purifier
A reverse-osmosis purifier driven by mechanical energy from exercise equipment.
This project turned the mechanical energy of exercise into clean drinking water.
I designed and fabricated a belt-driven power-transmission system that stepped cycling motion from \(\sim 45\) to \(\sim 1000\,\text{rpm}\) to drive a reverse-osmosis booster diaphragm pump. The working prototype generated \(\sim 60\,\text{psi}\) and \(400\,\text{ml/min}\) of purified water, reducing total dissolved solids (TDS) from 350 to 25 ppm.
